About Hanuman Dhara

Ram Ghat is a popular and sacred destination located in the state of Uttar Pradesh. It is situated on the banks of the Mandakini River and is known for its peaceful and serene atmosphere. According to legend, Lord Rama, Goddess Sita, and Lord Laxman had a conversation with Saint Goswami Tulsidas at this location. In addition, it is believed that the Sarayu River has its underground source at Ram Ghat, emerging and disappearing from this point. Visitors to the ghat can enjoy the evening aarti, as well as the beautiful statue of Lord Hanuman. It is also a popular spot for photography and food.


The district of Chitrakoot in Uttar Pradesh is one of the holiest places in Uttar Pradesh. You come across temples and other places of immense religious importance at regular intervals. Hanuman Dhara is one such place. Located about 3 km from Ramghat (considered to be the center of the main town in this place), it attracts devotees in large numbers.

This place is called Hanuman Dhara because of a gentle stream which flows over the statue of Lord Hanuman. To the devotees, this is perhaps the most beautiful sight to come across. The statue of Bajrang Bali (another name for Lord Hanuman) has been built of red stone marble. It overlooks the devotees and visitors entering the temple, lending a divine presence to the atmosphere.





In the distance, your eyes meet miles and miles of greenery, with a few settlements seated in between. There is a fascinating mythology behind how this place got its name. It is believed that Lord Hanuman, after setting fire to Lanka, returned to this



Hanuman dhara is considered the holy place of Chitrakoot. On the hanuman dhara Chitrakoot Dham, a very famous temple of Hanuman is situated which is on height. If you want to reach the temple then you have to go through stairs. On the top of the Chitrakoot hanuman dhara mandir, you will also see the Mata Sita Rasoi where she has cooked food for brahman. The visitors would be seeing a stream running throughout the year. If you are visiting this area on rainy days then you will see the waterfall. Hanuman dhara Chitrakoot is 3km away from the Ram Ghat. Many of the devotees used to visit this place.


If the people are traveling to the hanuman dhara then you would be able to see the stairs to reach the hanuman dhara. On the stairs, different shops are selling the prasad. You can buy it for your family and relatives. When you would be reaching a lot of groups would be coming to you for sell prasad. Here, you would also be finding boiled berry for the eating purpose. Visitors would be seeing monkeys on the stairs. If you have taken anything then keep it in your bag otherwise monkey would take your food.
